Marisa & Tom

Celebrated at the Pabst Mansion, this wedding came with a lot of detail without the usual wedding day labor involved in the process. The details were already in the venue they selected. With Marisa and Tom’s quick thinking and unique personalities, they added enough of their own personal touch to uplift the details that were already in the wedding.

Pabst beer, Milwaukee mugs, personalized wooden bookmarks (which I forgot to take!), paper bouquet made from book pages… you get the idea!

Marisa is a librarian, so this Victorian theme along with the book theme really hit it out of the ballpark. I was so swept up with all these details, I often forgot to credit Tom for coming up with Pabst mansion as their venue. Everything just really came together really well for this couple. It was such an honor to photograph such an intricate theme and this fabulous couple.

We were really lucky to hit so many great locations over the course of one day! Marisa and Tom were a joy to work with. I can only think of them as good friends, and I hope it will remain so. This is one of the unique perks of working with such great people. Clients become friends, and friends are definitely always welcome in my life.

What also made this wedding extra special was that it was set on my husband’s birthday! ūüôā He wouldn’t have it any other way! Love and support to the max.

Congratulations Marisa and Tom! Thank you so much for having me as your photographer.

Jessica & Jonathan

October! The month where the leaves start to color and the apples are ripe for picking. Most importantly, the most beautiful time of year to celebrate nature, love, and this lovely couple who tied the knot – Jessica and Jonathan!

You know, I say this a lot about my couples – they’re amazing! And it’s not because I am becoming generic in describing them, but honestly, I do have to take this moment to thank my stars for getting such amazing people to photograph. Jessica and Jonathan were no exception.¬†They were easy to work with because of the natural way they showed affection towards one¬†another. Looking through the edits, I could not help but melt to goo every time I flipped through them to make review my editing.

The couple officially tied the knot at the courthouse and celebrated the reception with family and close friends. It was basically a wedding but with cut costs, and they still got to eat the cake! I kinda wish I stole their idea for my own wedding. It was such a beautiful and yet simple celebration that I could not help but envy the planning of it all.

Jessica is such a beautiful, kind soul.¬†You¬†can just tell… look into those eyes! And Jonathan will make a great husband. He was so patient throughout the whole couple photography session. Yes, patience is a virtue. I am grateful for my clients and Jessica and Jonathan¬†really added to the list of why I do what I do.

Congratulations to the happy couple, Jessica and Jonathan!

Tessee and Spencer

I usually take the time to meet my couples beforehand, but, as I¬†was asked to shoot this wedding within a week away,¬†I wasn’t given¬†the normal¬†amount of time to plan a proper meeting.¬†I’ve never been on a blind date but, as a photographer, this would be close to it.

As I arrived at the courthouse to meet the bride and groom, I was taken aback with Tessee’s youth and smile! I was surprised to see¬†how much alike¬†the bride and I¬†were at first glance.¬†Tessee is about my height (petite), black hair, nice dark summer tan, and¬†dark brown eyes. I can tell you that I expected anything but that through email correspondence!¬†Then Tessee rushed Spencer to meet me. Even as he remained calm and polite during his greeting, his wedding jitters and happiness¬†was undeniable. ūüôā¬†Surrounded by his brothers, Spencer donned¬†a blue suit with a tie that yet needed to be knotted and tied. It was quite a sight to see their party surrounding¬†them in the hallway of the courthouse. A lot of love and excitement.

Blessed with sun and clouds, the weather could have not been better for a wedding, especially for outdoor photographs. Though we were set back on the scheduled nuptials, that did not stop us from filling the day with talk, smiles, and beautiful potraits. I made sure that I took the extra time to capture images of their family because of the unexpected delay.

Tessee’s son, Drake, was shy but curious. His impatient demeanor for photos definitely alerted me to the fact that entertaining the kiddo would definitely be in my favor. So I tried to work quick and with a few tricks up my sleeve.¬†Even with growing hunger pains amongst the three, you wouldn’t have been able to tell by looking at¬†these beautiful images! haha So glad everyone were such good sports. They were just¬†amazing to photograph.

Congrats Tessee, Spencer, and Drake on making it official!

The Very First Wedding: Robert and Nicole

In the many years that I look back since¬†I started into photography, I¬†can¬†see the growth in my¬†portfolio. It’s much like those¬†parent-teacher conferences from the beginning of the year and at the¬†end of the year where they show your parents your drawings; your drawings transition from shapes into distinguished objects and people.

As I reflect, my perspective and style remain much¬†the same. It is as if throughout the years, I’m trying my darnedest to perfect that one shot. It’s the same shot, but it gets only better¬†with¬†time and experience.

The featured couple are¬†old acquaintances of mine from grade and high school. I’ve known the bride, Nicole, since I was in first grade. We’ve seen each other grow from the jungle gym and have shared many memories as playmates then. I’ve known the groom, Robert, since sixth grade. These two lovebirds¬†were high school sweethearts and have since then kept their hearts with one¬†another.

This first wedding was definitely the most perfect wedding for me. I could actually take the time to take in everything and really participate in the celebration of their union as a photographer with a much smaller and more intimate party. Their winter wedding was beautiful, private, and was celebrated with a huge amount of love.

Before this, I never considered weddings. So when I asked to shoot their wedding, it was a huge compliment and definitely not something I thought I would take up later in my career. This wedding will always hold a special place for me. Thank you Robert and Nicole!

After Love, Comes Marriage

Mai Boua has been a longtime friend of mine ever since middle school. I have to mention that even then, we had our share of girl trouble. But what kind of relationship is it if¬†we didn’t? The fact that we were¬†able to come together afterward really emphasizes¬†how special and solid our relationship is to me.¬†The good, the bad, and the ugly;¬†our friendship still stands. That is what I call sisterhood.¬†ūüôā

With our history, I am also very well aware of her history with her fiance, Chue. They have been together since she was 14! Now 27, they are finally tying this long-awaited knot. I could not be much happier for her. To share our history and then look forward to a future we continue to share with one another is quite a statement of life.

This engagement session definitely was a momentous event for the both of us. For me, I’ve never felt as confident as I am now with the work I do. Thus, to be able to use the skills I have honed all these years for a good friend of mine is the best gift I could give to someone who has remained constant in my life.

These two will have a December wedding, and it is an honor of mine to be standing in the wedding to continue supporting her love and her goals. I can already see my lovely friend as a beautiful, blushing winter bride.

Congrats to Mai Boua and Chue on their decision to make their union officially legal! ūüėÄ

Simple and Sweet: Sarah & Shawn

There are two words to describe Sarah and Shawn as a couple; simple and sweet.

For the times that I have met them, they are very much alike in temperament. Sarah and Shawn are possibly the most relaxed and no-fuss couple that I have had the pleasure of photographing. Their wedding day very much reflected that aspect about them.

On the day of the wedding, it was forecast to storm and the ceremony was scheduled for outdoors. Believe me when I say this, it was raining cats and dogs for a hard five to ten minutes. But, when the rain stopped, it stopped for the rest of the evening; Not one single drop of rain! It was only minutes before the ceremony that the rain had stopped completely. They were definitely blessed with luck with rain for luck and dramatic, beautiful skies for a celebratory evening.

It is with great pleasure that I am able to share a snippet of their beautiful wedding day. Congratulations to the newlyweds, Sarah and Shawn!

Venue: The Golden Mast, Okauchee, WI

Cassandra and Eric

This was one of my¬†favorite weddings to shoot to date. ūüėÄ If you know me, I’ve only been taking wedding photoshoots recently to test the waters. However, this wedding held a significance for me. Cassie (short for Cassandra and goes by Cass, but I’ve always known her as Cassie) is a former classmate of mine during my college years studying film and photography. Already¬†familiar with my “pre-wedding” work,¬†Cassie took up my offer to shoot her wedding.

So far, shooting weddings have taught me to photograph and look for the love that lingers in the atmosphere. It is such a contagious feeling throughout the day from the bridal party, parents and guests. All the emotions, love, support, and the coming together is quite a magical experience.

Together, I compiled a selection of images from¬†their wedding day that I thought would best reflect the day that I witnessed and one they¬†experienced. Congratulations to the beautiful bride and proud groom. ūüôā
